Norval Kennedy

Jon Thompson, formerly of Norman, died Sunday, March 7, after an extended illness. He was 38.

Born July 23, 1955, he was a 1973 graduate of Norman High School, where he was a member of the swim team.

For the past five years, Mr. Thompson had been a resident of Philadelphia, Pa., where he was employed as coordinator of outdoor pursuits and special programs at Elwyn Inc., a school for the mentally challenged.

A director for Boy Scouts of America, Mr. Thompson  also was an active volunteer for the Delaware County Aids Network.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his brother, Mark of Norman, and one sister, Suzanne of Dallas, Texas.

--from a Transcript clipping in my '73 TRAIL. Penciled-in year on the clipping is 1993.

Asides: When he lived on Lahoma, my family was across the alley on Chautauqua. We worked together at Sirloin Stockade, which was recently demolished after being a bank for many years, and appears on the map on the inside covers of the yearbook.
