Memorial services for Mr. Larry Edwin Heister, age 57, a lifelong resident of Norman, were held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 4, 2012 in The Chapel of the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman with Pastor Joe Grizzle officiating.


Larry was born August 18, 1955 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the son of Edwin Gene and Edna Florene (Ellison) Heister. He passed away Thursday morning, August 30, 2012 at the HealthPlex in Norman.
Larry attended the Norman Public Schools, graduating from Norman High School in 1973. A year later, Larry was united in marriage to Miss Kathleen Higgins on May 18, 1974 in Norman.


Larry attended the University of Oklahoma for a brief time before beginning a career in the oilfield. After several years as a pumper, he found his true passion in the recovery and towing business. Larry began his own company, Capital Towing & Recovery, operating the business until his death. Larry was know as “Big Daddy” and developed the reputation as the best in the business often training others. He was a selfless person with a tender heart, often helping others with anything he could to lighten their burden. Larry was blessed with the talent to fix just about anything, often sharing that gift with those in need. He enjoyed his riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle with his wife and Sooner Football. Boomer Sooner!
Larry's greatest passion in life was his family. He adored his two children, Jake and Andrea, and was always involved in coaching their sporting activities. He spent quality time with his children, teaching them things like, how to rebuild an automobile carburator, change a flat tire, install a ceiling fan and many other tasks that helped them to become more self-sufficient.


Larry and Kathy are expecting the arrival of their first grandchild just anytime. Larry has been carefully crafting a baby bed for his little granddaughter and just completed it before he passed away.
Larry will be missed, but his family is grateful for his life, his friendships over the many years and the gift of a loving, close knit family.


Survivors include his wife, Kathy Heister of the home in Norman; one son, Jake Heister and his wife, Becky and their little angel in waiting, Lily Ann Heister of Moore; one daughter, Andrea Heister of Moore; his father, Edwin Gene Heister of Norman; one brother, Gary Heister and his wife, Amanda of Norman; one sister, Carol Doner and her husband, Byron of Norman; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dr. E. Arnold and Betty Higgins of Norman; brother-in-law, Rodney Lewis Higgins of Norman; brother-in-law, Jeffery Ervin Higgins of University Heights, OH; and numerous other family members and friends.


He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Edna Florene Heister.
Arrangements for Larry and his family were placed in the care of the Vice family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
