LISBETH SHEPPARD

Feb 5, 1955 - Nov 23, 2014 NORMAN

Lisbeth "Lisa" Ann Sheppard, of Norman, OK, 59, joined her heavenly family Sunday, November 23, 2014. Lisa was born on February 5, 1955, in Lubbock, TX to James C. "Jim" and Hazel J. "Jerry" Sheppard. Before her first birthday, Lisa's body was attacked by the polio virus. Though her body suffered partial paralysis, her tenacious will to fight remained strong. As a result of years of treatment and surgeries at the Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas, TX and the tireless devotion of her parents, Lisa graduated from Norman High School, completed a Bachelor of Science in Accounting at the University of Oklahoma, and worked as a Certified Public Accountant. After her retirement, Lisa devoted herself to caring for her nieces and parents. Her interest in antiques and family history led her to travel in person and by internet to complete extensive genealogical research and serve as member of the Cleveland County Genealogical Society. She authored numerous publications documenting the Sheppard, Whitmarsh, and Stackhouse family histories. Lisa also loved cooking, sewing, and crafting, especially when she could share those pastimes with family and friends. She enjoyed trading plants and flowers, and her home was featured on the Central Oklahoma Water Garden Society Pond Tour. In addition, her philanthropic interests included support of military personnel through care packages and donations of time and talents to the Blue Star Mothers. During the holidays, Lisa participated in the Salvation Army gift wrapping and Angel Tree gift adoptions. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Tina Blackburn. She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Jeanne and John Parrott, of Noble; Mike Sheppard, of Noble; Pat and Sheryl Sheppard, of Kingfisher; Joe Blackburn, of Norman; Sterling and Susan Price, of The Colony, Texas; and Sue and Larry Sherwood, of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; 13 nieces and nephews; and 13 great- nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lisa's honor to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas. Arrangements are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman. Family will greet friends on Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. A celebration of Lisa's life will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Havenbrook chapel.
